Welcome, from Legacy Makers

We're so glad you found your way here

First, we are deeply sorry for your loss. Creating a memorial program is one of the most personal ways to honor someone you love — and you don't have to do it alone.

We built Legacy Makers so that anyone — with no design experience at all — can create a beautiful, professional program in a single sitting. We're here to help you every step of the way.

Before you begin: please use a desktop or laptop

Our design editor works best on a larger screen. We strongly recommend a desktop, laptop, or large tablet — not a mobile phone. You'll be able to see your whole program at once, move things precisely, and work much more comfortably.

Simple, Honest Pricing

What does it cost?

Designing your program is completely free. You only pay when you're ready — and printing is always quoted for you separately, so there are never surprises.

Layout Fee

$49.99

A one-time fee for your finished, print-ready program design. Paid only when you're happy with your program and ready to download the PDF.

Printing

Quoted for you

Printing costs depend on your program size, paper choice, and quantity. We'll send you a personalized quote — separate from your layout fee — before anything is printed.

Shipping

Quoted for you

Shipping is included in your printing quote and based on your location and how quickly you need your programs delivered.

The layout fee is separate from printing and shipping — your printing and shipping prices will arrive in their own quote, and you can also print your PDF anywhere you like.

What to gather before you start

You don't need everything to begin — you can start now and fill things in as they come to you. But having these nearby will make it a smooth, single sitting.

A favorite photo of your loved one

This becomes the cover photo. A clear, well-lit picture works best — we can even remove the background for you.

Additional photos for the memory pages

Gather a handful of photos from across their life for the photo collage pages. You can add or change them at any time.

Their full name and dates

Date of birth and date of passing, exactly as you would like them to appear.

Service details

The date, time, and location of the service — plus the officiant, interment, and repast details if you have them.

The order of service

The flow of the ceremony: songs, readings, remarks, and who is performing each part. A rough list is fine — it is easy to rearrange.

The life story, or just the memories

You do not need polished words. Even a few notes and memories are enough — our writing helper can shape them into a beautiful biography.

Names of pallbearers and acknowledgments

If they are part of your service. These sections can also be left out entirely.

If the words don't come easily, we'll help

Writing about someone you love, while grieving, is hard. That's why our editor has gentle AI writing assistants built into every section that needs words.

The biography

Answer a few simple questions about their life, and our writing assistant will draft a warm, dignified life story for you — then you can change any word until it sounds like them.

Tributes & acknowledgments

From family tributes to thank-you notes, the assistant can offer a first draft whenever a page feels blank. It can also suggest poems, scriptures, and readings.

Always your words, in the end

Everything the assistant writes is only a starting point. Edit, rewrite, or ignore it completely — nothing goes into your program until you approve it.

About the editor

Our editor is like having a professional designer sitting beside you. Every template starts beautiful — you simply make it personal. Here's what you can (and can't) change, so nothing surprises you.

Things you can move & change

  • Photos — drag to reposition, resize, rotate, add frames, and even remove backgrounds
  • Names and dates on the cover — move them anywhere, change fonts, sizes, and colors
  • All of your text — biography, tributes, order of service, acknowledgments, and more
  • Fonts and colors — choose from dozens of elegant fonts and any color you like
  • Decorative touches — add clip art, shapes, and extra text boxes and place them where you wish
  • Photo collage pages — pick a layout and arrange your pictures within it
  • Which pages appear — show or hide sections like tributes and pallbearers

Things that stay in place

  • The template's background artwork — the designed backgrounds and borders stay put so your program always prints beautifully
  • The overall page structure — margins and the printable area are set for you, so nothing gets cut off at the print shop
  • The size & format you choose — you pick the program size when you choose your template, and the design stays true to it

This is on purpose — it protects the professional design, so no matter how much you personalize, the final program will always look polished and print correctly.

When it's time to print

When your program is finished, you'll download a high-resolution, print-ready PDF — the same file professional printers use. Here's how to get beautiful printed copies.

Print at home

Any home printer that handles letter-size (8.5" × 11") paper will work. Print on both sides, fold down the middle, and your program is ready.

Take it to a print shop

Bring or email your PDF to any local print shop, office supply store, or online printer. Ask them to print it double-sided, "flip on short edge," and folded.

Or let us handle it

Prefer not to worry about it? We can professionally print your programs and ship them straight to you or the funeral home.

A note on paper

For the most elegant result, we recommend a heavier paper than everyday copy paper. Ask your print shop for 32 lb premium paper or 80–100 lb cardstock with a matte or satin finish — it feels substantial in the hand and shows photographs beautifully. Glossy paper is also lovely for photo-heavy programs. If you're printing at home, the heaviest paper your printer accepts will make a noticeable difference.

Whenever you're ready, we're ready

There's no account to create and no cost to look around. Choose a template, take your time, and pay only when you're ready to download your finished, print-ready program.

Your work is saved automatically as you go — you can always come back to it.
